Obama Making History Again…And Not In A Good Way

From the Associated Press (via Yahoo!):

Threats against a new president historically spike right after an election, but from Maine to Idaho law enforcement officials are seeing more against Barack Obama than ever before.

It’s a little ironic that the change candidate has sparked such a fear of change. icon wink Obama Making History Again...And Not In A Good Way

In all seriousness, regardless of how you feel about the guy, he doesn’t deserve any sort of violence, much less assassination.  If he’s that bad, work within the system.  Get a Republican Congress in in 2 years, and vote for someone else in 2012.  Believe it or not, the system works, and I’ll be praying for Mr. Obama’s safety.

Sarah Palin: True Conservative

From CNN:

Former Republican vice presidential nominee Gov. Sarah Palin sharply questioned expanding the federal economic bailout plan Thursday during her first extended remarks since the end of the presidential campaign.

Now that she’s out of a campagn that kept trying to force her to be a moderate, it’l be interesting to see what role Palin plays in trying to rejuvenate the Republican party.

Alaskan Personnel Board: No Ethics Law Violation On Palin's Part

From CNN:

Alaska’s Personnel Board concluded Monday that Gov. Sarah Palin did not violate ethics law by trying to get her ex-brother-in-law fired from the state police, contradicting an earlier investigation’s findings.

This is good news. My money, barring a miracle tomorrow, is on Palin as the next Republican President. An ethics violation on her record could make for a rough 2012 campaign.

This Revolution Must Be Televised!

So, I’ve been thinking this over lately, and I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s time for a revolution.  Now, I’m not talking about getting a militia together and overthrowing the government or anything (while I love Colorado, I’m not sure I’m ready to live in The Republic of Colorado).

I’m talking political revolution.  Most polls are showing that the majority of Americans have lost faith in the government; we hear about Dubya’s 28% approval rating, but what’s often left out is that Congress is at 19% approval and the Supreme Court is right around 48% (those numbers are from a July Gallup Poll, I have no doubt the numbers have dropped for the first two since the “Market Meltdown.”).  When the highest approval from all 3 branches of government is still less than half, something is really wrong.

What should we do?

Well, I’m going to give you a slogan for this and future election seasons:  Parties Be Damned. I’m a registered Republican, and that’s the party line I tend to vote.  However, the two major parties are the problem.  Additionally, you cannot trust what a politician running for office tells you; they’re either going to spin their record to sound good to all audiences, or just flat-out lie about it.  Like it or not, to make an informed choice, you need to do some research on each candidate’s record.  I’m talking every candidate.  If it turns out the best choice to represent your state as a Senator is from the Constitution Party, vote for that person!  Don’t buy into that “voting third party is throwing your vote away!” garbage.  It’s that type of mentality that prevents true reform.

The future of this country is in our hands.  Vote for people that will truly make a difference; not just the person representing your favorite major party.  Voting is often a case of choosing the lesser evil, but we can change that!

We Need Another "Great Communicator"

In his first inaugural address, President Ronald Reagan delivered a line succinctly capturing the sentiment that elected him: “Government is not the solution to our problem; government is the problem.”

A generation later, that attitude still resonates with a solid majority of Americans. A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 59% of voters agree with Reagan, and just 28% disagree.

Sadly, it seems neither party will heed Reagan’s warning.  While one is more extreme, both Democrats and Republicans are pushing us toward socialism.  Our nation of lazy, non-responsibility-taking people does nothing but encourage the move.

However, there is hope for another one of these (the first clip is just a summary, the full speech is below the break:

America’s Days Aren’t Numbered
By Thomas F. Madden

The last time I strolled through the local Barnes & Noble, there were so many books announcing the end of American power, wealth, influence, or just America itself, that I began to wonder whether my dollars would be worth anything by the time I hit the checkout counter.

Obama the naive
His views on world affairs ignore history and imperil the U.S. and our allies.
By John R. Bolton

Barack Obama’s willingness to meet with the leaders of rogue states such as Iran and North Korea “without preconditions” is a naive and dangerous approach to dealing with the hard men who run pariah states. It will be an important and legitimate issue for policy debate during the remainder of the presidential campaign.

You can’t rationalize with the irrational. Ahmadinejad doesn’t want peace, he wants the Mahdi. Bolton gets it, why doesn’t Obama?

Scott McClellan: Body-snatched?

Scott McClellan Originally Planned to Attack Media, Defend Bush
By Matthew Sheffield

Although today his book is being touted by left-wing reporters and pundits, his initial plans for the project show former White House press secretary Scott McClellan intended to take a much different approach, one that was more sympathetic to President Bush but also quite hard on the “liberal elites” of the Washington press corps and their “hostility” toward the administration.

I have to be honest, I’m not quite sure what to make of this. Is the advance on a book deal sweet enough to sell out your own values? Does someone have some dirt on McClellan? I eagerly wait to see if the ‘busters can find anything else on this.

DEATH TO AMERICA!

Well, more or less…

“America’s Chickens are Coming Home to Roost”
By Daniel Pipes

The Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Jr. of Chicago’s Trinity United Church of Christ, and Barack Obama’s pastor since 1988, told his congregation in a sermon on Sept. 16, 2001 that U.S. terrorism had precipitated Al-Qaeda’s attack. “We bombed Hiroshima, we bombed Nagasaki, and we nuked far more than the thousands in New York and the Pentagon, and we never batted an eye. We have supported state terrorism against the Palestinians and black South Africans, and now we are indignant because the stuff we have done overseas is now brought right back to our own front yards.” Wright concluded that “America’s chickens are coming home to roost.”

That last phrase has a history.

Article Continues… (DanielPipes.org)

Of all the thing Rev. Wright has said, I don’t know that this phrase is the best to draw attention to. However, when you combine his quoting of Malcolm X with his claim that America is the #1 killer in the world, that the U.S. invinted HIV to kill black people, that 9/11 & Pearl Harbor were the government’s fault, and mix that all together with the fact that Barack Obama has attended that man’s church for 20 years, I think it’s obvious the good Senator has no business in government, much less being President.

Can you spot the inadvertent sexism?

Obama Is Our First Muslim Presidential Contender In The Same Way That Clinton Was Our First Black President

By Phyllis Chesler

Someone should ask Senator Obama where he stands on the persecution of “infidels” in Muslim lands and the proliferation of Muslim-arranged marriages, polygamy, face-veiling, wife- and daughter-beating, and honor murders in America.

Talk Radio (The Mancow show) called and asked me to join them Tuesday morning to comment on the Obama-Farrakhan matter. And so I made a dutiful list of “talking points” and tried to overcome my professorial politeness in order to get a few words in edgewise on a wonderfully high-energy program. The interview is posted at Mancow.com and here’s some of what I said.

I believe that Obama is our first Muslim Presidential contender.

Farrakhan praises Obama at Nation of Islam convention in Chicago

By Margaret Ramirez

Speaking to thousands of members of the Nation of Islam in Chicago at their annual convention, Minister Louis Farrakhan on Sunday praised presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama as the only hope for healing America’s racial divisions.

Farrakhan spoke about the war in Iraq, the nation’s ailing economy and the increase in natural disasters, saying the world was in a perilous state and Obama could help it recover.

Obama won't wear flag pin but displays Cuban Flag in his Houston Office

By Rick Moran

This really is too rich for irony.

Barack Obama’s Houston campaign office prominently displays a Cuban flag with a superimposed picture of Che Guevara, the Argentine-born terrorist and revolutionary.

Of course, Obama made an issue of not wearing an American flag pin or placing his hand over his heart during the national anthem, quite rightly pointing out that neither gesture is necessary to be patriotic. But it sure makes him look like a fool when his ultra-left supporters go to work every day under the flag of the dictator Fidel Castro.

As much as I hate to defend him, Obama really can’t be held responsible for how someone decorates their office. However, being that he’s the one running for President, you think he establish some sort of guidelines for this…

Why Does Obama's Pastor Matter?

By John Perazzo

Barack Obama, in a way that recalls John F. Kennedy, a politician to whom he’s frequently compared, has carefully controlled and burnished his image to create the impression of an independent figure, free from dogma and ideological entanglements. But there is one man who threatens to undermine Obama’s appealing narrative as a man above the ugly quarrels and divisive partisanship of the past: his longtime pastor and spiritual adviser, Rev. Jeremiah Wright.

I’m really starting to suspect that the Democratic nominee, whoever it is, will be the next President. Since Obama seems a slight favorite, and is a very bad choice for Israel, I’m focusing on him.

I think I just declared Hillary the lesser of two political evils. Yikes!
